Infor Velocity Suite
A single yearly priced bundle of Infor's AI agents, generative AI, process mining and automation, sold to companies that already run Infor enterprise resource planning software. It reaches IBM i because three Infor ERP products run on the platform, LX, XA and System21, and an on-premises site connects to the AI by running Multi-Tenant Infor OS beside it.
What Infor Velocity Suite does
Infor sells enterprise resource planning software, or ERP. ERP is the system that holds orders, inventory, purchasing and the general ledger. Velocity Suite is Infor's AI sold on top of that. Infor's own page says it plainly: "Infor Velocity Suite is an all-inclusive AI package built for your industry."
The pricing is the part worth noticing. Infor says a single annual price includes everything, with "no surprise invoices or usage anxiety", and it names the models it is arguing against: per user, per bot, or per transaction. Think of a buffet price instead of paying for each plate.
The five parts Infor lists in the suite
- Industry AI AgentsInfor describes these as role-based agents built on micro-vertical processes across manufacturing, distribution, and service industries. An agent here is a program that does a job on its own instead of waiting for every click.
- Infor GenAIGenerative AI built into the Infor CloudSuite screens people already use. Infor says it helps users write, summarize, analyze, and translate with the click of a button.
- Infor Process MiningIt reads how work actually flows through the system and points at the slow spots. Infor says it identifies inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Value+ AI automationsPrebuilt automations that plug into an Infor CloudSuite. Infor says they can be deployed often in less than 30 days.
- Robotic process automationRPA, short for robotic process automation, uses bots to perform a sequence of activities. Infor's examples include data entry, invoice processing, compliance checks and order processing.

Can an IBM i shop use it?
Yes, but not by installing anything on IBM i. Three of Infor's ERP products were built for this platform and are still sold for it.
The three Infor ERP products that run on IBM i
| Infor ERP product | What Infor says about the hardware | Where it can run |
|---|---|---|
| Infor LX | ERP software for IBM i Power System, built on the trusted and scalable IBM i platform. Latest release listed as 8.4.2. | Cloud or on-premises |
| Infor XA | Runs with IBM Power System, which Infor credits with zero downtime. No version named on the page. | Mixed cloud and on-premises |
| Infor System21 | Based on the IBM i platform. | Cloud or on-premises, identical functionality either way |
Read from each product page on infor.com on October 26, 2026. None of the three pages mentions Velocity Suite or AI.
The AI itself lives in Infor's cloud. So an on-premises customer needs a bridge. IT Jungle reported on October 19, 2026 that the bridge is Multi-Tenant Infor OS, run alongside the suite as a hybrid cloud integration platform. It carries data between your machine and Infor's cloud using Infor ION, Infor's integration layer, and Business Object Documents, the standard message format Infor products use to hand records to each other.
That same report quotes Max Fisher, Infor's director of product strategy, saying the job is making sure IBM i customers can put the agents to work, and says the partner Guide Technologies already has customers running live with agents. Those are vendor and partner statements, not a measured result. Infor's own product pages for LX, XA and System21 do not mention Velocity Suite at all, checked October 26, 2026.
What do the agents actually do?
They are narrow on purpose. Each one is aimed at a single job inside one industry, not at answering anything you ask. IT Jungle lists five for automotive.
The five automotive agents named in the October 19, 2026 report
- Inventory AgentWorks on what is in stock.
- Warehouse AgentWorks on movement inside the building.
- Logistics AgentWorks on getting goods in and out.
- Buyer AgentWorks on purchasing.
- General Ledger AgentWorks on the books.
The same report names a different five for distribution: Manufacturing Order, Product Structure, Purchasing, Project and Fixed Assets. Source: IT Jungle, October 19, 2026, by Alex Woodie.
Infor also wired the agents together. An Infor blog post dated April 22, 2026 describes an Agentic Orchestrator that moves the agents from isolated, task-level operations to coordinated, multi-step workflows. It adds supervisor agents that direct task agents in sequence, and native Model Context Protocol connectivity. Model Context Protocol, or MCP, is the open standard an AI tool uses to reach a program or a database.
That blog post says MCP connectors in the Infor ION API Gateway convert any external application programming interface, or API, into a usable MCP server. It does not name IBM i. We found no Infor document showing that done with an IBM i program, checked October 26, 2026.
Why does Infor say industry AI beats general AI?
Because a general model does not know your trade. Infor's chief executive, Kevin Samuelson, put it this way in the October 6, 2026 announcement: "Everyone has the same AI models now. What matters is what those models know" about your business. Infor backs the argument with a survey it commissioned.
Share of business decision-makers who told Infor's survey that off-the-shelf AI does not fit their industry's needs
Infor's Enterprise AI Adoption Impact Index, October 2026 wave, run by YouGov in August 2026 with 2,111 business decision-makers across seven markets. Infor paid for the survey and sells the answer it points to, so read it as a vendor number. From the Infor press release, read October 26, 2026.
The same survey found only 54 percent of leaders comfortable letting agents run critical processes on their own, and only 10 percent with a chief AI officer in place. That is the honest counterweight. The appetite is real and the trust is not there yet.
When did this show up?
Velocity Suite from launch to the IBM i answer
- April 10, 2025Infor's chief marketing officer, Kirsten Allegri Williams, posts that "this month, we are launching Infor Velocity Suite", with generative AI, robotic process automation and process mining, plus unlimited access to the Value+ catalog.
- April 22, 2026An Infor blog post introduces the Agentic Orchestrator, adding supervisor agents and native Model Context Protocol connectivity.
- October 6, 2026Infor announces an expanded Infor Industry AI and the next evolution of Velocity Suite, including a semantic layer called Infor IQ with a catalog of more than 350 use cases.
- October 19, 2026IT Jungle reports that on-premises IBM i customers on LX, XA or System21 can use the suite through Multi-Tenant Infor OS.
Dates taken from each source on October 26, 2026.
For an IBM i site the takeaway is small and clear. This is not AI you install on the platform. It is AI you subscribe to, with your IBM i ERP feeding it. The work on your side is the integration layer, not the model.

AS/400
IBM's original 1988 midrange business computer platform; the term is still used informally to refer to IBM i systems and shops even though IBM has rebranded the hardware and OS multiple times since.
Db2 for i

Model Context Protocol
An open standard, released by Anthropic on November 25, 2024, that defines a client-server architecture for connecting AI applications to external data sources, tools, and prompts over JSON-RPC 2.0. IBM's IBM i MCP Server is an implementation of it for Db2 for i and other IBM i resources.
watsonx Orchestrate
