Why it matters for AI on IBM i
Because Db2 for i ships inside IBM i, your application data is already Db2 for i data. That is why an AI connector like the IBM i MCP Server can reach production data directly, with no export step first.
What Db2 for i does not have yet
As of September 2026 Db2 for i has no vector store, and IBM has not published a date for one. AI search indexes for RAG live outside the database, usually in OpenSearch running on Power.
