Db2 for i
The relational database management system built into every IBM i operating system, tightly integrated with IBM i rather than a separately installed database product.
Db2 for i is IBM i's native relational database, integrated directly into the operating system since the original AS/400. Because it ships with IBM i itself, application data on an IBM i system is Db2 for i data by default, which is part of why an AI agent connectivity layer like the IBM i MCP Server can reach production data directly rather than requiring a separate export step.
