i-Rays

i-Rays is a behavioral observability platform built specifically for IBM i by Omnilogy, a privately held, Warsaw-based vendor serving IBM i and IBM Z customers, and it launched January 21, 2026. It connects to a partition over ODBC without installing an agent on IBM i, then continuously learns the normal patterns of job and subsystem relationships, batch workflow timing, and message queue depth to build a behavioral baseline for that specific environment. Deviations from the baseline are flagged as anomalies, and the vendor claims root causes can surface up to eight hours before an incident becomes visible to end users, alongside machine-learning-based recommendations on tuning and workload optimization. It integrates with OpenTelemetry-based tools including Dynatrace and Splunk. On September 22, 2026, Omnilogy partnered with Power by Fortra, which will handle sales, implementation, training, and support, citing skills shortages that Fortra's 2026 IBM i Marketplace Survey found to be IBM i shops' top concern.
